Mining

Mining is fundamental for our modern life as it provides the copper we need to transmit electricity, lithium for our batteries, or iron and cement for our infrastructures, as well as a host of other materials. Latin America and the Caribbean have enormous reserves of many of these metals and minerals and, over centuries, it has devoted itself to harnessing and leveraging them for the region’s social and economic development.

In this section, you will find information about the mining sector in the region, including data on its levels of reserves, production, and foreign trade. The methodological details of each analysis, as well as the downloadable database, are available for each of the indicators.
