About the HUB

The energy sector is undergoing a technological and digital revolution, which has resulted in an explosion of data in volumes never imagined, growing exponentially at an extraordinary speed. This data is the new fuel for creating effective public policies, providing a  basis for new business models, helping in decision-making processes, detecting trends, saving costs and time, responding to current problems and, ultimately, powering innovation in the sector. But having access to different sources of data and information is not enough. It is essential to find a way to gather, organize, and analyze them in order to provide practical benefits and encourage the creation of a more significant number of evidence and data.

In Latin America and the Caribbean, there is currently a lot of information on energy, but it is dispersed, incomplete, outdated, and in some cases difficult to access. This hinders the formulation of actions for innovation, sustainability, and effective decision-making for the promotion of the sector in the region, and ultimately the improvement of people's quality of life.

What is the Energy HUB?
The Energy HUB aims to provide a solution to this. It is the digital meeting point that compiles, integrates, disseminates, and drives the generation of data and information on the energy sector of Latin America and the Caribbean in a single place. As a result, it contributes to the creation of  knowledge that will allow the region to face the energy challenges more quickly, solidly and clearly, and thus improve the quality of life of its inhabitants.

We work together with our partners to collect in a single place data and information for public and free use in different areas of interest, in particular, infrastructure of energy services, access and affordability, innovation, renewable energy, investment, among others. The HUB facilitates the search and use of data, and directs the user to the original data sources, speeding up its use in a reliable and timely manner.

Mission
To concentrate information and promote the use and generation of data on energy in Latin America and the Caribbean in a single place, making it accessible, interactive, intuitive, comparable and useful for its users. Reduce information gaps and promote knowledge creation for innovation, energy efficiency and better decision-making in the sector.

Vision
To be the meeting point of reference for information and data, and generation of knowledge about the energy sector in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Values

COLLABORATION: We want the Energy Hub to be a shared piece of work, dynamic, created thanks to the participation, interaction and dialogue of the actors involved in the energy sector in Latin America and the Caribbean.

KNOWLEDGE: We believe that knowledge is the new gold. The ability to collect evidence, data and information in an appropriate way will be the key to face the challenges when making decisions that improve the quality of life of people, from the energy sector’s perspective.

INNOVATION: We understand innovation as an engine for growth, development and evolution of the energy sector in the region, and we want the Energy Hub to provide and promote the creation of the necessary information and knowledge to foster that innovation.

DEMOCRATIZING INFORMATION: We treat information as a public good, open, free to use, transparent and easily accessible to all. Because we believe that access to information is key to an evolving society.

SUSTAINABLE TRANSFORMATION: We want to be the most complete information and knowledge hub on energy in Latin America and the Caribbean, whose data is key to accelerating the energy transition of the region, guaranteeing the quality of life of its citizens.

Goals

  • To integrate energy information from Latin America and the Caribbean in one place, so that users can obtain data easily, quickly, intuitively, interactively and transparently;
  • To promote and democratize access to data and information on energy, which will accelerate the generation of knowledge, serving as support to boost innovation, create new business models, generate effective public policies, detect trends, save costs and time, responding to current problems, and, ultimately, to contribute to the sustainable energy progress of the region, and improve the quality of life of the people.
  • To encourage interaction and dialogue between the actors of the energy sector in the region, so that regional research is shared, promoted, stimulated and facilitated, generating the cross-dissemination of experiences and the discussion of possible solutions to regional energy challenges.
